Our story
Back from time off, I just want the decisions and who owes what.
I'm Johnny Mobley. I started building systems for other people in 2000, when I was 16, and I've been doing it ever since. Along the way I automated most of my own work, and the tools I built for myself became these companies. Each one runs on rules I wrote down, not on paid AI calls, which is why it can cost so little.
When you come back to a long Slack channel or email thread, you don't need every message. You need what was decided and who said they'd do something. Rebrief takes a thread you paste in and gives back exactly that: a one-line overview, the decisions, and the action items with the person who took them.
It works by plain rules I wrote down, not a language model: it looks for decision wording like "we decided" or "agreed" and commitment wording like "I'll" or "by Friday". Every line it returns is a sentence that's actually in your text, so it can miss things phrased differently, and it says so.
What works today
- Turns a pasted Slack channel export or email thread into a short brief: an overview, the decisions made and the action items with their owner
- Gives each brief a link you can share with whoever else missed the thread
What it doesn't do yet
Slack still does things Rebrief doesn't:
- Reading your channels directly. Rebrief only works on text you paste in; it doesn't connect to a Slack or email account.
- Daily recaps across all your channels.
- Meeting transcripts and summaries.
- Search across your messages and files.
